When I met Akansha’s family, I learned that they were in severe financial distress. Her father is paralysed, and there is no other breadwinner in the family. He asked me, “How am I going to feed my family? Whatever I had, I spent on Akansha’s education. I even took loans, hoping that she would become a doctor and we would no longer have to worry about our livelihood.” This is when we realised that these families needed financial help. So relieved today that many of them will finally receive compensation and, at the very least, won’t have to worry about their livelihood.
